Discocyrtus testudineus (Holmberg, 1876) belongs to the gonyleptid subfamily Pachylinae. This species has a relatively widespread distribution across northern provinces of Argentina and also a small region of Paraguay[1]. In this species, as is common for members of the genus, males are heavily armed with large spines on the dorsum, coxa IV, and leg IV.

In some individuals, armature of the dorsum is considerably reduced, or almost absent (a teratological morphology; D.N. Proud, pers. obs., see photos below).
