The species Holoversia nigra was described in 1940 by Mello-Leitão, and belongs to the subfamily Gonyleptinae Sundevall, 1833, included in the genus Holoversia Mello-Leitão, 1940.

Natural History and DistribuitionEdit

This species until now is only known from the Serra do Cipo, Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil, living in swampy area in the montane fields.   Can be found in aggregations containing many specimens, or walking lonely on vegetation. And they can release a strong odor when they are disturbed (Machado & Vasconcelos, 1998[1]).
