Metacynortoides Roewer, 1912 is a small genus of the Neotropical family Cosmetidae, subfamily Cosmetinae with five species from the Caribbean.

Etymology[]
Metacynortoides is feminine, as treated originally by its author (Art. 30.1.4.4) (Kury & Alonso-Zarazaga 2011: 50).

Diagnosis[]
Briefly, Roewer 1912 (p.65-66) defined as: 6 segmented tarsus1 thickened; chelicerae normal; Scutal Area I tubercles, II tubercles, III larger spines, IV "same"/=smaller spines; legs normal.
[Originally the genus was based on two species: M.obscura Banks 1901 from Puerto Rico [Roewer wrote as "Antilles/Haiti", and M.scabrosa Banks 1909 from Cuba]

Kury & Alonso-Zarazaga 2011 provides taxonomic comments to Kury 2003 (p.67), saying: "Metacynortoides Roewer, 1912 is feminine, as treated originally by its author (Art. 30.1.4.4). Consequently, M. bilineata Goodnight & Goodnight, M. obscura obscura (Banks), M. obscura dorsalis Roewer, M. romana Goodnight & Goodnight and M. scabrosa (Banks)."
