Metavononoides Roewer, 1928 is a genus of the Neotropical family Cosmetinae, subfamily Cosmetinae with 4 species from Southeastern Brazil, after revision by Kury & Medrano 2018 [1].

Etymology[]

Placement[]

Originally placed in Cosmetidae, Cosmetinae.

Type species[]

Metavonones barbacenensis Mello-Leitão, 1923, by subsequent designation of Kury (2003).

Diagnosis[]

Kury 2003 writes (p.70) that "Metavononoides as here defined includes most Cosmetidae of Brazilian Atlantic Forest, characterized by an unique U-shaped marking on the scute, stylus thick with apical pointed granules, small body, slender legs, mesotergum smooth, area III with two high spines".

Notes[]

Kury & Alonso-Zarazaga 2011 say Metavononoides Roewer is wrongly dated as of 1927 in KC contra correctly 1928 in NN. Correct publication date of Metavononoides is February 1928 although nominal date is 1927.
