Metopilio cambridgei Mello-Leitão, 1944 is a member of the genus Metopilio, (Eupnoi, Sclerosomatidae).

TaxonomyEdit

HomonymyEdit

The name Phalangium horridum was originally used by Panzer in 1794. In 1876, Thorell moved that species to the genus Lacinius. In 1905, F.O. Pickard-Cambridge used the same name (Phalangium horridum) for this species. Under Art. 57.2 of the ICZN code, a primary junior homonym is permanently invalid. So even though Panzer's species had been moved to Lacinius, a replacement name was required for Cambridge's species. This was provided by Mello-Leitão (not Roewer, as stated in Hallan) in 1944.
