The podium, as defined by Kury (2014[1]), is the apical part of the dorsal truncus, not taking part in the formation of the ventral plate, providing a flat surface on which the glans is incumbent. This formation is present in most Gonyleptoidea and occurs in many shapes. The structure of podium is character number 91 in Kury's analysis (2014).
