Rhaucus vulneratus Simon, 1879 is the only species of the Neotropical genus Rhaucus, on the family Cosmetidae. It inhabits the Eastern Andes of Colombia, Cundinamarca and Boyacá states at 2500-3500 m.a.s.l.

EtymologyEdit

Rhaukos (latinized as Rhaucus) was an ancient city of Crete. Gender masculine. The vulneratus epithet refers to the five transverse reddish lines that give the appearance of "wounds" in the dorsum of the animal.
