William Emil Sørensen (9 April 1848, Jutland, Denmark - 29 June 1916) was a Danish arachnologist who contributed important material to the taxonomy of Opiliones in the late 19th century.
Notable contributions[]
Sørensen contributed seminal works on anatomy[1] and morphology[2], as well as works on Neotropical[3], Australasian[4] and Afrotropical[5] fauna.
His posthumous work edited by Henriksen (1932a[6]) was of paramount importance.
He is the creator of families Assamiidae Sørensen 1884, Epedanidae Sørensen 1886, Samoidae Sørensen 1886a, Stygnopsidae Sørensen in Henriksen 1932a, Stylocellidae Hansen & Sørensen, 1904, Triaenonychidae Sørensen 1886 and Zalmoxidae Sørensen 1886.
