Sclerobunus skywalkeri Derkarabetian & Hedin, 2014 belongs to the genus Sclerobunus (Laniatores:Paranonychidae).
Taxonomy[]
Diagnosis[]
Notes[]
- Known from 3 isolated mountain ranges (Manzano, Sandia, San Mateo) in New Mexico[1]
- Type specimen is at the California Academy of Sciences[1]
The species Sclerobunus glorietus, Sclerobunus klomax and Sclerobunus skywalkeri form a species complex, whose relationships (both within the group and with the rest of the robustus species group) are not entirely clear. Morphological studies and gene analyses produce somewhat differing results. Derkarabetian & Hedin defined three separate species on the grounds that it "is the most conservative and intuitive choice and unlikely to result in future synonymy with increased sampling".[1]
